Is guild wars still the best nonsubscription MMO to play? What do I need to purchase to start?

Can I just get the $40 trilogy, or do I need more expansions to really play with other people? How did you like the game? Is there something else I should try instead? I'm looking for cheap casual easy MMO gaming. Is guild wars still the best nonsubscription MMO to play? What do I need to purchase to start?
Yes, when you compare Guild Wars with something like WoW, it's insanely good value for money. I've spent a lot of time on GW myself, it's definitely one of my favourite games. The trilogy will provide you with more than enough to get started with, all you really need is just one of the campaigns (Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall), although the trilogy is probably cheaper overall in the long-run. The other good value MMO out there is browser-based RuneScape, which is also worth a try, and doesn't require you to spend a penny if you don't want to.Is guild wars still the best nonsubscription MMO to play? It is really difficult to recommend a specific MMO game, because everyone likes something different. Check out http://mmohut.com for a gigantic list of these free mmorpg / mmo games. I use that site to find new games to play. Every week or so I try a new game ;) - It's a lot of fun because I try everything. They have like every single MMORPG categorized nicely with reviews, screenshots, videos and more. Heck they even list the game's system requirements ;). Best part is all the games are free, which rocks.

Or you can just see a huge list of the games with scores, types, etc above.

They list all the big non-download MMORPGs too on their browser game section. I like browser games a lot too :].

Let me know if this helped at all =].
