What is Guild Wars like?

I play both console and pc games and now am looking to play a mmorpg for occasional use, which is why i first looked at guild wars, as its free.

Oh and I'm looking to purchase it on Steam. (Good idea or not??)

A few questions:

1) What would you reccoment Guild Wars: Game of the Year Edition or the Guild Wars: trilogy (or whatever else you know)

2) What are the graphics like in game

3) How is the connection (laggy, regularly hacked, etc)

4) What's it like really

So if you could tell me what you know and your experiences of it would be much appreciatedWhat is Guild Wars like?
1. Definitely Trilogy

2. Graphics are from 4 years ago but still great. Its not a flashy pretty game like Aion though.

3. Connection is fine, you should know that first time you run the game your going to have to download a lot of updates and that takes a while.

4. Guild Wars makes grind optional and its not needed anywhere in the game. Its instanced, which means you form group in cities then head out and kill things. Iv been playing it for 3 years ands its great for a casual gamer. I recommend starting with the Nightfall campaign. Take not that the game is starting to get old and that all the players are spread out across the three campaigns so dont panic if you see no one around you (most players group up in the major cities where there is hundreds of people). Anymore info you can ask on this website:

And if you do buy the game this will become your best friend:

1) Get the trilogy for sure.

2) Graphics in my opinion are almost better than Aion. I think Aion looks terrible, downright bland and empty. Guild wars actually has some pretty good graphics and the world is not empty, there is almost always a crowd.

3) The connection varies, but generally there is not enough latency to cause alarm.

4) I played for about 2 years and stopped. I own all the campaigns and played it to the fullest extent. I don't think you would be making a mistake by buying it now, but you might want to wait off until guild wars 2 has been released. It is not too far away and it will make it easier to leave your characters behind. This game definitely gets you attached to people and guilds.
