What are things a newb should know about Guild Wars?

I just recently bought the Guild Wars Trilogy from steam for $25. What are things I should know about the game. I have no knowledge of the game. Is it like WoW in that at end game you run high lvl dungeons for better gear and or PVP. Can you only get gear from drops or can you buy it from somewhere. Is there any way to get more buttons or do you just have to pick what 8 abilities you want to use. Can you run any dungeon with npc's or do you actually need humans for some. Any info will be useful.What are things a newb should know about Guild Wars?
Alright, in this game, PvP is completely optional, gear can be bought from NPCs or found in drops except for armor, which HAS to be obtained from an NPC. Yes, you can only carry 8 skills at a time but if arranged and chosen right, thats all you need. Any part of the game can be done with AI allies or human players. well iv only played guild wars for a short while but im allready max lvl..and i gota say..at end game GW does a BAAAAAAD job and keeping you to play...i mean i quit GW 7 times in 2 months...it gets that boring..but you allways go back..quit for good now tho having played 2 months maxing 2 chars.
